getAddress() is operated by GetAddress LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, the customer console and our API, and what we do with it. We keep what we hold about you to a minimum, and we never sell it or show advertising.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign up, sign in or buy a plan. It identifies your account, and we send your API key, sign-in links and codes, and usage and billing notices to it.
- Your subscriptions: plan, status, renewal date, API keys, domain tokens, settings such as a Google browser key you save for the Google Places fallback, and daily counts of look-ups.
- Payment records such as the amount and date of each payment. Your card details, billing address, GST number and NZBN are collected by Stripe, not by us.
- Messages you send us through the contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser, the page or API route requested and the time. We use it to run the service, apply rate limits and stop misuse.
- What you search for: address and place text sent to the API is used to answer that request. It is counted toward your usage but not kept against your name.
Cookies and analytics
We set one cookie, when you sign in to the console, to keep you signed in. It lasts up to 14 days and is removed when you sign out. We use Footfall, run by SearchStack, to count page visits.
If a page breaks in your browser, we send an error report to SearchStack's error tracker: the error message, the page address without its query string, your browser type and the last few pages and buttons you used on the site. It sets no cookies and never records your IP address or anything you type.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that run getAddress() for us, and only what each one needs:
- Microsoft Azure hosts the website, API and database, in its Australia East region, and sends our emails.
- Stripe takes payments and holds your card and billing details.
- SearchStack runs the address search behind the API.
- Footfall, run by SearchStack, counts page visits.
- SearchStack also receives the error reports described above.
- OpenFreeMap serves the map tiles on our homepage demo, so your browser requests them directly.
Otherwise we share information only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while you use it. A subscription you cancel is removed after its paid period ends. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. Email us to have your account and everything in it deleted.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing us. Card and billing details can be changed at any time from the Billing tab of the console.
Security
Everything between your browser and our servers is encrypted.
